first grade & professor feedback

so i got an email from the professor of my first class and its pretty good...but theres a few sentences in there that i find particularly funny. i have to respect what he says cause hes a very successful business man but i think that maybe what he says about my hat is a little over the top...dont ya think?

"Matt - You did exceptionally well on your final paper, earning you an A on the paper and an A in the course.
In the context of overall feedback on your performance this term, you have sent mixed messages. On the positive side, you have shown yourself to be an industrious, conscientious and bright student. The kind that can earn an A in every course - and ultimately achieve a significant and prosperous career. If you worked for me, I would tap you as one of my potential high-flyers - you clearly have all the attributes of leadership capabilities. On the down-side, you have a habit which is typical of you generation, and that is your "in-the-face" practice of wearing a hat or head covering in the classroom. Unless you need to do so for medical reasons, the practice of wearning a hat in school, at work, in a business setting, or at the dining table is seen by most people over thirty as rude and ignorant. I know you to be neither rude nor ignorant. Therefore, let your friends, colleagues, and business associates get to know your bright side, and save the dark side (your hat) for outdoors".

i really dont see how the messages i sent were mixed. im an excellent student and he would consider me a "high-flyer" if he were my employer, but my hat negates all of that and creates mixed signals. i didnt know a hat was that powerful. yikes. maybe im being outta line here. i dunno. in a professional or formal setting i wouldnt wear a hat though. oh well...i got my A.
